Eyes are the windows to the soul, and for aging eyes, Botox is not enough.

Beautiful eyes are the focal point of our social interactions, something that men and women notice in a crowd of people. Beautiful eyes are a high priority for many Spa 35 clients, everyday we hear “My eyes look old, I’m here for a little Botox”.

But Botox is not enough to return your eyes to their natural beauty. this page is designed to help our customers understand all the available cosmetic services they could be including in their plan for beautiful eyes.

How our eyes change over time

Our eyes have a tendency to be the first area to show the signs of sun damage and they highlight genetic influences of the aging process.

  • Skin around the eyes is very thin - so any issues with collagen are exaggerated around the eyes.

  • The area below the eyes (tear troughs) are trouble areas for most people. Dark circles under the eyes have multiple causes and require a bit of research to find the best solution.

  • The bones around our eyes change over time. We can not change the bone changes, but we can diminish the impact of bone changes.

  • At times a focus on core health is the best way to improve the appearance of your eyes.

Each cause of aging requires a unique treatment plan…Botox is rarely enough.

Your eyes age in many different ways, yet most people only add a little Botox to their cosmetic habits in the hope their eyes will remain bright and youthful

Botox is a great start, but it’s not enough to hold back the common signs of aging around the eyes. An ideal plan for beautiful eyes includes services to;

  • Improve skin integrity

  • Tighten skin

  • Create smooth texture

  • Remove discoloration (e.g. age spots)

  • Minimize uneven fat pockets

Signs of aging eyes

Crow’s Feet

Those pesky lines that radiate outward from your eyes every time you smile are caused by muscle contractions, that over time damage skin around the eyes. Crow’s feet start as lines that are only visible when you contract the muscles (e.g. smiling, squinting) but over time tend to develop into lines that are always visible (dynamic lines become static lines). These persistent lines of damaged dermis and epidermis radiating out to the side of the face need more treatment other than Botox.

Dark circles under the eyes (tear trough area)

Many people develop darker skin under the eyes. There are a few causes for this darkening. Thinning skin from sun damage or genetics can allow the color of blood vessels to be seen through the skin. Small leaks in the blood vessels can create dark tissue in this area. This is typically genetic or health related. Loss of fat under the eye can “uncover” the darker tissue, making the eyes look dark and shrunken. Multiple strategies are typically used for dark, hollow areas under the eye.

Bags under the eyes

Bulges of fat can become increasing visible under the eye as we age. This is typically from the disproportionate loss of facial fat that occurring with aging, leaving behind small pockets of fat after other surrounding fat has diminished. Loss of bone around the eye can also contribute to these fat bulges under the eye when the eye has less support and rests on the underlying fat.

Thin, short eye lashes

Long, thick eye lashes are often associated with beautiful eyes. And many women spend hundreds of dollars and many hours in front of the mirror creating thicker lashes with a variety of cosmetic products, or by having artificial lashes glued to their eye lid.
