Skin Tightening
When anti-aging creams aren't enough and surgery is too much, Skin Tightening may be the solution for individuals looking to turn back the clock on lax and sagging skin. As we age and collagen levels decrease, skin stretches & sags resulting in the appearance of lines, creases and wrinkles. Skin Tightening provides individuals an option to actively turn back the clock on aging skin. Treatments offer deep skin tightening and stimulate new collagen growth. Individuals experience healthier, smoother, more youthful skin.
Helpful For:
- Firming & tightening skin.
- Stimulating new collagen production.
- Improving lax & sagging skin.
- Promoting better-toned, younger-looking skin.
Benefits:
Firm and tighten skin with a non-surgical, no-downtime treatment. Treatments uniformly heat tissue in the deeper layers of skin, stimulating new collagen production to take years off your appearance. Treatments are non-invasive, allowing individuals to quickly resume normal activities. A blended infrared light source reduces wrinkling and other signs of aging by stimulating new collagen production, which results in better-toned, younger-looking skin. Skin Tightening treatments protect the epidermis though continuous contact-cooling, while the infrared light heats the deeper layers. Multiple treatments are recommended for optimal results.
What to Expect:
- A Skinscan analysis and consultation with a Skin Specialist to determine if a Skin Tightening treatment is right for you.
- Depending on individual goals and the condition of your skin, a pre-treatment plan may be needed to prepare skin for a Skin Tightening treatment.
- An infrared light source heats deep into the dermis causing collagen to contract and stimulate new collagen growth.
- Meticulous pre and post care instructions will be reviewed.
- A series of one to three treatments may be necessary to achieve the optimal result.
- Treatments may be repeated every two to three weeks.
- Results are seen gradually over a three to six month period as new collagen is formed. Many individuals report seeing an earlier response.
- Result last approximately 24 months, depending on an individuals aging pattern.
- Individuals under 50 years of age typically experience a more measurable response.
- No downtime.
Things to Consider:
- Non-Invasive.
- Non-Surgical.
- Minimal risk.
- Little if any recovery time.
- Symptoms immediately following the procedure may include mild redness and swelling. Symptoms should dissipate within a few hours following the procedure.
- Some individuals may develop an irritation similar to hives; this irritation typically subsides in a few hours.
- Hyper or hypo-pigmentation is rare but possible, particularly in individuals with darker skin tones.
- Scarring is possible after a laser treatment if an infection develops.
- Sun block is a must because of increased sun sensitivity.
What You Need to Know:
What is the difference between Spa 35’s Skin Tightening and Thermage®?
Both Skin Tightening and Thermage® treatments provide a non-surgical, no downtime option for individuals looking to firm and tighten loose and sagging skin. Thermage® utilizes a first generation RF (radio frequency) based rejuvenation treatment, while Skin Tightening is based on a clinically proven, newer light-based platform. Both treatments offer deep skin tightening and stimulate new collagen production. Both treatments are relatively new and results may vary based on an individual's skin condition. Results are more modest than other cosmetic laser procedures and are not a substitute for a facelift. The discomfort associated the Thermage® procedure has led to the increased popularity of Skin Tightening treatments.
Spa 35's affiliated cosmetic surgeon, Michael Bailey MD, DDS offers the Thermage® procedure in addition to a full range of cosmetic surgical procedures including: Facelifts, Browlifts, Eyelifts, Lip Enhancements, Nasal Reshaping Fat Transfers and Liposuction.
What is the difference between Skin Tightening and other cosmetic laser procedures like the Microlaser Peel® or IPL®/BBL Skin Rejuvenation?
One cosmetic laser cannot do it all. Wrinkles, lax and sagging skin, sun spots, freckling or a rough uneven texture are all common skin concerns that can be improved by various cosmetic lasers treatments. Despite the marketing hype, most cosmetic lasers are only able to effectively treat one or two concerns. It is important to understand what realistic expectations and results should be. Skin Tightening is clinically proven to stimulate new collagen production to firm and smooth skin. Stimulating collagen production results in better-toned, younger-looking skin. Sun spots, age spots, facial veins, crepey skin and other common skin concerns should be addressed with other cosmetic laser treatments, such as the Microlaser Peel®, or IPL®/BBL Skin Rejuvenation. Spa 35's Better Skin Guide article, The Laser Era, provides additional information regarding cosmetic lasers.
