Laser Peel
Keep 50+ skin looking vibrant and strong, a Laser Peel offers dramatic results for mature skin. A Laser Peel resurfacing of the skin offers a non-surgical "refinishing" for deeper lines, creases, wrinkles and uneven texture associated with skin's natural aging process and prolonged exposure to the sun's damaging rays. Previously, delicate areas such as the lips, neck and décolletage (chest) have been unable to benefit from laser resurfacing. Older, more aggressive technologies such as the, Carbon Dioxide or CO2 Lasers have been unable to treat these fragile areas. A Laser Peel procedure redefines what laser skin resurfacing treatments are all about.
Helpful For:
- Deeper lines and wrinkles.
- Improving overall texture, tone and color.
- Sun damaged skin.
- Liver or age spots.
- Brightening the overall complexion.
- Repairing irregular surface discoloration.
- Promoting new skin growth.
Benefits:
The results are dramatic and lasting with significantly less downtime, side effects and risks than older laser resurfacing options. Delicate areas such as the neck and décolletage (chest) are able to be treated; eliminating the harsh transition lines previously associated with laser resurfacing. A Laser Peel introduces an eye-catching non-surgical solution for mature skin.
What to Expect:
- A Skinscan analysis and consultation with a Skin Specialist to determine if a Laser Peel treatment is right for you.
- Depending on individual goals and the condition of your skin, a pre-treatment plan may be needed to prepare skin for a Laser Peel procedure.
- An IV sedation promotes a more comfortable experience.
- An ablative laser removes the outer layers of skin; allowing new, fresher, healthier skin to be revealed.
- Meticulous pre and post care instruction will be reviewed.
- A single laser treatment may be able to achieve the optimal result.
- Downtime is typically 4-10 days depending upon the depth of the laser treatment.
- Redness may be exhibited for up to 30 days.
- Results are lasting.
- Treatments may be repeated, but most individuals undergo only once or twice in a lifetime.
Things to Consider:
- As with any ablative laser procedure there is the potential for serious side effects and infection.
- Symptoms immediately following the procedure resemble sunburn, with excess warmth and peeling. Symptoms typically last anywhere from 4-10 days depending upon the depth of the peel and your individual response.
- Darkening of pigment areas, redness, flaking, swelling and irritation are typical symptoms that can be managed with a cold compress, pain reliever or anti-inflammatory.
- Hyper or hypo-pigmentation is rare but possible, particularly in individuals with darker skin tones.
- Sun block is a must for increased sun sensitivity.
What You Need to Know:
What is the difference between a Laser Peel and older Carbon Dioxide, CO2, laser skin resurfacing treatments?
Ablative skin resurfacing treatments work essentially the same way. The outer layers of the skin are removed, as new skin cells form during the healing process, a smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin surface appears. Laser skin resurfacing technologies and their associated protocols determine the depth of the treatment, predictability of the result, associated risks, side effects and recovery time.
Carbon Dioxide or the CO2 Laser became extremely popular in the mid-nineties as a replacement for deep phenol chemical peels. CO2 Lasers are the most powerful lasers used for deep wrinkles. CO2 Laser procedures come with substantial results, recovery time and risks. Symptoms include significant swelling, oozing, flaking, and redness for 2-4 weeks. Intravenous sedation is necessary for pain management and the overall recovery process is longer than with a Laser Peel. General redness may be visible for several months and a meticulous post-procedure routine is necessary. CO2 Lasers offer a more dramatic result for facial wrinkles but the aggressive nature of the technology precludes treating the neck and décolletage (chest), which typically results in some form of a transition line between treated and untreated skin.
Active, busy, outdoor lifestyles and the demand for reduced recovery time led to the development of a breakthrough in anti-aging laser technology-the Laser Peel. This treatment technology offers individuals a more customized treatment with less redness and shorter healing times. The gentler nature of the Laser Peel makes it possible to treat areas that older technologies have been unable to improve such as the eyes, lips, hands, neck and décolletage (chest).
What is the difference between the Microlaser Peel® and the Laser Peel?
Both the Microlaser Peel® and Laser Peel skin resurfacing treatments are performed with an Er:YAG 2940 ablative laser system. This advanced laser system allows for multiple protocols and treatment depths for our clients based on their individual needs and goals. This technically advanced device allows for precise depth and control of the laser energy when treating the skin; resulting in a highly predictable and reliable result. The average Laser Peel procedure is approximately 100-150%* deeper than the average Microlaser Peel® with lip refinishing. Both are ablative laser procedures that come with potentially serious side effects and risks. It is important to understand the experience and training of the individual operating these highly effective lasers. A consultation with a Skin Specialist is a critical step in determining which treatment is appropriate to meet your individual goals. Both laser treatments are signature Spa services.
